Scope and Contents: Files include applications, reports, minutes, and correspondence of the committee which licensed groups to solicit funds for war aid and war charity. Applications show the name of the organization, address, purpose, names and addresses of officers, purpose of solicitation, amount to be raised, territorial limits of solicitations, license approval or denial, and date of issue. Daily reports to the State Council of Defense include the numbers of applications filed each day, filed to date, rejected, issued, under consideration, revoked, expired, extended, and reinstated. Minutes of weekly meetings of the Cook County License Committee contain lists of applicants, plans for fund raising, and whether licenses were granted. Correspondence concerns funds, applications, and examinations of applications by the Citizens War Board of Chicago.
